Before HIR became its own body of work, there were traditions that helped shape the path.
Seichem Reiki is one of the energetic traditions woven into The Heart Illuminating Reiki™.
Sometimes written as Seichem, Seichim, Sekhem or SKHM, the practice is associated with Universal life-force energy and a deeply spiritual relationship with light, connection and transformation.
Within the teachings passed through Seichem lineages, its energy is often described as Living Light Energy, an energetic current received from beyond the individual rather than created by the practitioner.
For me, learning Seichem became another doorway.
A doorway into energy.
Into ancient symbolism.
Into the mystery of connection.
And eventually, into the unfolding of HIR.
The word sekhem has ancient Egyptian roots associated with power or might.
Within modern Seichem/Sekhem Reiki traditions, the practice is often connected spiritually and symbolically with ancient Egypt and with Sekhmet, the lioness-headed Egyptian goddess whose name is related to sekhem.
Sekhmet has long been associated with tremendous power and, within Egyptian religious tradition, with forces of destruction as well as protection and healing.
Within some contemporary Seichem teachings, she is honored as a guardian presence and symbol of transformation.
I think that distinction is important: we can honor the Egyptian inspiration beautifully without saying that modern Seichem Reiki itself is documented as a 5,000 year old practice or that it appears in the Egyptian Book of the Dead, unless you have primary historical sources establishing that.

Within the Seichem tradition I received, the energy is understood as a connection with a greater field of Living Light Energy.
Rather than the practitioner being the source of that energy, the practice invites us to become receptive, to listen, connect and allow.
It may be experienced as warmth, movement, stillness, emotion, imagery or simply a sense of deep presence.
There is nothing that must happen.
And there is no single experience you are supposed to have.
At its heart, Seichem invites a relationship with energy that is both deeply personal and connected to something larger than ourselves.
Receive. Listen. Allow.
Within Seichem teachings, the Seichem Sceptre carries symbolism of power, spiritual connection, authority, unity and Universal consciousness.
The symbols and teachings of Seichem became part of my own exploration of energy, and eventually part of the larger tapestry from which Heart Illuminating Reiki™ emerged.
HIR is not simply Seichem under another name.
It became its own practice, with its own symbols, teachings, ceremonies and initiations.
But Seichem remains part of the path that led me there.

Every teaching travels through hands, hearts and teachers before it reaches our own.

I honor the teachers who carried these practices forward and the path through which they eventually found their way to me.
Seichem became one thread in a much larger tapestry.
Alongside Usui/Tibetan Reiki, sacred symbolism, intuitive guidance, sound, spiritual connection and the frequency of Divine Immaculate Love, it helped form part of the foundation from which The Heart Illuminating Reiki™ would eventually emerge.
HIR carries that history forward while becoming something uniquely its own.
The heart is the doorway.
Love is the frequency.
Connection is the remembrance.
Where love is. Where all is possible.®
